Infrastructure Alternatives provides comprehensive experience in the application of various sediment dewatering technologies. Our integrated solutions approach to sediment dewatering can provide one, or a combination of any of the following dewatering processes:

Geotextile Tube Dewatering

Infrastructure Alternatives is one of the nation’s most experienced installers of Geotube® dewatering systems, pioneering the use of Geotube® containers to dewater hydraulically-dredged contaminated marine sediments. Automated polymer feed systems are equipped with real-time solids content analyzers used to optimize chemical conditioning, a key factor in maximizing a material’s dewatering potential. Header systems and lay-down schemes are custom-designed and built to provide the necessary capacity for full-scale, flow-through applications.

In 2005, Infrastructure Alternatives was granted a United States patent (No. US 6,835,314 B2) for the hydraulic dredging and dewatering of sludge and sediments from water and wastewater treatment systems and dewatering of the material through the use of geotextile tubes.

Mechanical Dewatering

Infrastructure Alternatives offers a full range of mechanical dewatering services involving biosolids, contaminated sediments, industrial waste and water treatment residuals. These services may include the use of belt presses, plate and frame presses and/or centrifuges. In addition, IAI has hands on experience with the Total Clean mechanical dewatering system.

To meet a full scale project , seasonal or emergency dewatering needs, Infrastructure Alternatives utilizes mobile equipment to customize the most economical and efficient process to address any dewatering need. We also design and install permanent dewatering systems for long-term applications.

On-Site Water Treatment

Often times a dewatering process produces a process water stream that needs to be treated and monitored before discharge. Our experienced wastewater operations and design engineering staff provides complete system design, process equipment installation and full O&M services.
